Mystics Apprentice rates this game: 2/5 This game is a remake of the original game first released on the NES. Overall it was pretty good, I'm just not a huge fan of Fire Emblem is all. Basically, what you do is you have a map, and you choose which direction you want to go and you have to fight battles. I really didn't get too deep into the game, but I believe you have to equip your party just right.

One thing I enjoyed about this game was it's rich storyline. That alone made me enticed to play the game. This game seemed like it could've been pretty good, only I didn't give it very much of a chance.

Umbra rates this game: 3/5 A decent FE game. For a remake of the original Fire Emblem, this game does well in some areas but lacks in others. The reclassing feature in the game added something fresh to the series, and while there are some obvious classes NOT to reclass to, this feature can make some units more useful than they are in their original class.

The story is nothing special, but given it IS a remake, you really can't change the orginal story so much. The maps, themselves, are pretty fun, and with the 5 degrees of hard mode, some maps can be rather challenging.

There is also a forging feature in the game that allows you to make your own weapons based on already-existing weapons. While this is a cool feature, truth be told, it can make your characters broken with the uber weapons forged.

I was a little disappointed with this game's artwork compared to ealier titles. The 3D models are just.clunky and pixelated. I don't know why Intelligent Systems abandoned the 2D sprites which MADE Fire Emblem. That aside, though, some of the animations, such as the swordmaster's, are nicely-done. The music is alright, at best. I personally don't dig the techno-ish thing they did, though. It doesn't really fit the feel of FE that well.

However, there are some good tracks on some of the maps. Despite the flaws, this is a Fire Emblem game through and through. There's a lot of freedom to work on whomever and develop your own unique strategy. TinyPoke42 says: Greetings EPusers. I loved fire emblem until I played this 'game'. I respect the series for seriousness of death, there are no phoenix downs, no 1-ups to be found. The thing that maks me hate this game is class-changing.

It boils down to the random number system that provides stat boosts to make you stronger doesn't mesh with class changing - if you change a knight into a mage, his pattern of growth stays as a knight. High defence, not bad in itself.

Low speed(ow), and next to 0 magic power(more ow) I don't like games that can't work with themselves. Woah woah woah, slow down. Fire Emblem isn't a series you should play in sequential order, you won't enjoy it very much that way. I'll copypaste a write-up I did earlier of all the continuities of the games and which order you should play them in. I'll go on and give you a nice masterlist here of all games separated by world, and also list the games in chronological order (in-universe, not by real-world release date). Afterwards I'll give you my suggested order of which set of games you should tackle when. Just to preface, any game in the list that I put a '(J)' after is Japan only, although most have translation patches I can direct you to when you want them. Archanea Series (Lords: Marth, Chrom, Lucina) • Dark Dragon and Sword of Light (FE1)(NES)(J) / Shadow Dragon (FE11)(DS) • Gaiden (FE2)(NES)(J)* • Mystery of the Emblem, Book 2 (FE3)(SNES)(J) / New Mystery of the Emblem (FE12)(DS)(J) • Awakening (FE13)(3DS) The first two entries here have remakes, which is why I've put them here paired with their originals.

There really isn't any reason to play the originals over the remakes in this case, so just play the remakes where applicable and go back later to play the originals if you feel like it. Awakening has some references to the older games, but you can still play and understand the story just fine without having played them. *Gaiden is mostly self-contained, with only minor references to the wider story of Archanea.

Because it has aged so poorly, I'd recommend not playing this until much later on, rather than the order it comes in terms of lore. Jugdral Series (Lords: Sigurd, Seliph, Leif) • Genealogy of the Holy War (FE4)(SNES)(J) • Thracia 776 (FE5)(SNES)(J) Elibe Series (Lords: Roy, Eliwood) • Blazing Sword (FE7)(GBA) • Binding Blade (FE6)(GBA)(J) This series is a bit different. Release order would have you playing a game followed by its prequel; so how you play these are just preference.

From a gameplay perspective, it might feel like a step backwards to play FE7 and then FE6, and some story details may feel a bit more disconnected in moving forwards in time rather than backwards. But if you'd rather play in chronological order, it can still work just fine. Magvel Series (Lords: Eirika, Ephraim) • Sacred Stones(FE8)(Gameboy Advance) A stand-alone.

Can be played at any point. Tellius Series (Lords: Ike, Micaiah) • Path of Radiance (FE9)(Gamecube) • Radiant Dawn (FE10)(Wii) Fates (Lords: Corrin) • Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright (FE14)(3DS) • Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest (FE14)(3DS) • Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation (FE14)(3DS) All Fates games are just alternate paths, so you can play them in any order as long as you do Revelation last. I'd recommend going Birthright->Conquest->Revelation. Now, in terms of which order you should do them in, Elibe and Tellius are great places to start, as well as Magvel since it is a standalone.

If you start with the Elibe games, you may have an easier time if you start with FE7, as it has a nice tutorial. Once you've finished at least one of those (Elibe or Tellius), you can move on really however you want, although I would suggest you do Jugdral towards the end, as those games are quite different from the others, and in the case of FE5, much harder as well.

If you need any help or want to know where to find any translation patches, just pm me and I'll hook you up. Hope this helps out. I firmly believe that FE5 has some of the most legitimate difficulty in the series.

The gaiden chapters are almost always easy to unlock, most people will just get them by doing something that seems to be an optional objective, the only 3 I can think of are 10x (or was it 11, i dont remember) where you needed to have captured, and not released the boss of chapter 3, a boss, from 7 chapters ago. 17x (the prison escape one, i doint remember which one it is, because I never got it) where you have to intentionally let one of your units get captured and then brought out of the map, which seems dumb. And finally Chapter 24x, the one where you had to recruit Sara, and get her Kia staff in order to get to, which requires you to have done some really pretty arcane bullshit in order to get the Kia staff in the first place. Are you talking about the infinite range staves?

Or the infinitely lasting status effects? If so, this same applies for the enemy, and they don't have the PRF rank weapons you do. It's like Mekkkah (or was in Dondon, i, again, dont remember) said on chapter 24 of their thracia 0% growths, sss rank LTC, 'This game seems pretty hard, but when you realize that we have access to some of the best combinations of items in the game at our disposal, the game becomes a whole lot more doable.' One example is Wrath + Resire (or nosferatu if you're a pleb) which basically makes Linoan immortal.

Or Dime Thunder + Vantage, 1-2 rng brave weapon with tons of mt, acc, and uses? So tell me, what about FE5 is jank? What specifically? IK that, but jank usually refers to gameplay.

And besides, its not that hard to just trial and error for what each button does, and most of the are in positions that are the same as in FE6/7/8 (or was it FE4, not joking here, actually cant remember). And yeah, some of the translation is bogus, for example, my rom had a bug where all of the heroes on the final level had a bugged name, where, if i just scrolled my cursor over them, my emulator would crash, I could still target them with, say, weapons, staves, and other such things, but yea, odd bugs.
